Each and every day as I wander through the various halls and haunts of RavenBlack City, I am amazed by the number of people that fall under the category of 'Noob'. These 'vampires' are a disgrace to our kind, that is, of course, when they ARE our kind, and not a fox or high-elf. It is disgusting, to say the least.
As already mentioned, we have the ones that claim that they are not actually vampires at all, but bizarre shapeshifters. How does that work? I cannot find anything in vampire lore that suggests we can shift to anything other than a fairly puny bat, and let's be honest, being a visually impared winged rodent in a fight is not going to be beneficial.
And then you have the ever growing hordes that s-ea2 a33 352e th5s beca4se s60e6ne t63d the0 that 5t 5s 352e we33 c633. And yes, that was intentionally incomprehensible. Better still, are those that speak empahasising odd letters in words. Not only is this an oratory marvel, it is also hIgHlY AnNoYiNg tO lIsTeN tOo. Disgusting behaviour.
And the worst part of all of this? They cannot be punished in conventional means. They have no blood to be taken away from them, and seem to think that feeding is a needless activity. Blasphemy. Utter heresy. These 'vampires' exist in a permanent state of torpor, and seem to be quite happy with it. They have no powers, no blood - and no intelligence.
However, it is not just these weak neophytes that are lacking in intelligence. Just looking around the City, it is possible to see several of the more well-known vampires behaving in a manner that would better suit someone that frequents the ghettos all to often, and seems to actually enjoy life spent there.
There are two that come to mind, and no names will be mentioned. All thesen two do is complain about how much they hate the ghettos and that the people in there are moronic and unintelligent. Yet...they are always there themselves. Always. As well as this, they are fickle elitists. Although I cannot blame this on them entirely, their line appears to brainwash people in that way.
Archangel is another one that comes to mind. Still clinging to the faded glories of years long past, and still seeming to think that he is an integral part of unlife in the City. He clearly is not. His only recent excapade of note was to 'occupy' the Hall of Binding and 'take control of it'. Which, needless to say, was a pointless activity that failed miserably.
These people are actually more irritating that the noobs of the ghettos. They tend to act like spoiled children when things do not go their own way, and then cower behind a shroud of pink fluff when things go very very wrong, or hide behind family and clan. It disgusts me to see this sort of thing.
And what is worse than this? There are a few vampires out there that seem to think having a a good amount of blood sets them above other vampires. Let us recall that we all had to start somewhere, and that none of us are perfect. You see, these people seem to find us amusing that when we are young we do things that, at the time, seemed like the best idea. In actual fact, these were not...but that's how we learn.
These so-called 'elders', of which, technically, I am one of (yes, the irony is astounding), are my one gripe with the 'upper classes'. Always trying to make themselves seem better than they are, although they hae accomplisehd nothing and no-one has heard of them. I make no secrect of the fact that I have not done much in this city of ours, I do not demand respect from all I meet and I do not treat those below me in experience like dirt. This kind of behaviour does not beget respect.
So why is it that these people seem to enjoy indulging in verbal self-gratification? They feel threatend. There time in their own self-perceived spotlight is coming to an end. A new breed of vampire is flooding the clans and halls of this City. The arrogance of age is being replaced with the arrogance and fearlessness of youth.
So, to return to my premise. 'Noob' is a state of mind, not a state of being. As vampires, we often cause offence and start trouble. If we do, it is up to us to sort it out and maybe even be sent to torpor for our mistakes, not to hide behind clans and neutrality. So, the next time you call someone a dirty noob, is it because they are new to the City, and acting a bit strangely, or is it because they have thrown the teddy out of their pram and are acting like their inner child has them by the genitals and is twisting, causing them to whine and complain?
