So I find myself once again bitching about how utterly fucked my state is. Some of you may know of "Youth Week 2008", a Catholic festival in Sydney to celebrate the youth of the world. Supposedly.
What has just happened is that the state Premier, Morris Iemma, has pushed through a law stating that police have the power to arrest and fine $5500 from those who, during youth week, partake in behaviour seen to be "Anti-Catholic" or in the manner of a "Public Menace": ie. dissenters and protesters, from gay rights to abortion rights and feminists.
What the fuck happened to Freedom of Expression?
